A wonderful camping experience. After being in Arches and Canyonlands for a week this was a great break from the crowds. We enjoyed every bit of the off-roading and especially camping among the huge rock formations. At night our camper was dwarfed by the towering "Sitting Hen Butte" in the Valley of the Gods. Our camp was frequently surrounded by roaming cattle which tormented our 4 legged travelling buddy - Mason. I recommend this drive over Monument Valley. It was pretty too.... but this is much better for getting away from crowds and getting right up close to the formations. And it is free! Would love to get away from it all and go back to this peaceful paradise!

Probably one of the most famous rock formation inside the Valley of the Gods NP. (An hour drive from Monument Valley.) Well worth to visit. Fantastic red rocks.

Amazing place. Amazing landscape! Must see if you visit Arizona!

Beautiful landscape, drivable by dirt road. Amazing views!

Valley of the Gods' topography performs a marvelous magic trick — a spectacular illusion. As the main dirt road snakes through the Valley's pinnacles and oblong mesas, the skyline morphs kaleidoscopically. With each turn, one wide formation appears to narrow while another seems to grow in length. In less than a mile, you find yourself transported into a breathtakingly different environment — as if these ancient rocks were alive and bending themselves around you in a shape-shifting embrace. Truly, a magical experience.
