My husband and I stopped by this place at 930pm and we were just so glad we were able to eat dinner at such a late hour. We were so pleasantly surprised when just after we order two flat iron steaks a log was thrown into the fire trough, two steaks were slapped onto the grill top and then it was given a slight push. This was the ahha moment when we realized the steaks would actually be swinging over the fire. The smell of the cedar wood and the steaks cooking really made us anticipate a great meal. We were not disappointed the steak was truly amazing, much more tender and tasty than any flat iron I have ever had, the beans were simple but a good compliment to the steak, the salad was good and perfectly lightly dressed and finally the "toast" although good on its own was really delicious as a sponge for the juices left on the plate. I would definitely recommend this place not only for it's simple but high quality food but also for the very pleasant owner and the welcoming service we experienced.
Terrible place to eat, my steak was bland, and I needed to use steak sauce in order to eat it. Steak sauce! Had I not been starving, I would have likely not finished the food, but my extreme hunger made me power through the meal. The salad was sad, and was swimming in the juices of what can only be described as "water beans" from their distinct lack of any type of flavor. Salt did not help them. Hands down, the best part of the meal was the piece of toast. I was eating with a group, and one person mentioned they did not want their toast. The rest of the table began to fight for the one piece of palatable food of the whole meal. I was extremely disappointed by the entire experience, and if I could do it over I would just get a hot dog from the gas station across the street. DO NOT EAT HERE, SAVE YOUR MONEY.
I stop here and eat here twice a year. It's hands down the best food in a restaurant anywhere. The place is rough and tumble, all out-of-doors with an interesting cast of characters for staff. If you're feeling like you have to get everything exactly the way you want it go down the highway to the bland joint around the corner. Looking for something different with a flair , this is your joint.
Gristly, inedible sirloin, cold beans, surly, condescending waitress and greedy, grasping owners. Miscalculated bill. Added her own tip to bill. I know you might be desperate for food in Mexican Hat, Utah, but drive on. The salad was meager but delicious. That and the garlic toast were the highlights of the meal. Did I mention that the meal was fabulously overpriced?
Food = Bland. The grill master did not season any of the meat going on the grill. Beans we flavorless and watery. The "salad" was iceberg lettuce with a watery vinaigrette and served on top of the hot water beans. My wife and I ordered hamburgers to the tune of $15 a plate. It was not a hamburger. Patties were frozen and thrown on the grill. There were cooked correctly but unseasoned. We got a hamburger patty served on a piece of toast. Not good. Everything else was much more expensive, the ribeye was $40. Oh and get ready to pay an 18% tip no matter how good your service is they write that in for you. There is something I've never seen.
